Partners in Protection

Partners in Protection

Partners in Protection has hosted two major symposia on the subject of wildland/interface fires. Minimizing the Risk of Wildfire was held at Jasper, Alberta in September, 1992. Based on this achievement, Fire Management in the Wildland-Urban Interface: Sharing Solutions was held at Kananaskis Village, Alberta in October, 1994.
In addition to providing these forums, Partners in Protection produces Partners in Protection News, a quarterly newsletter of current and past interface issues, information about wildland/interface fires in Alberta and Canada, and articles on technical issues related to the interface problem.
In accordance with the recommendations of the executive, Partners in Protection has embarked on its most ambitious task to date: the developing of Alberta's First Community Wildland/Interface Planner. This interactive manual, entitled FireSmart: Protecting Your Community From Wildfire, provides individuals with the necessary tools in planning and in mitigating the risk of fire in interface areas. The manual is available for
download on this Web site.
